Boosting Your Immune System

In today’s COVID-19 pandemic, the strength of your immune system is now more crucial than ever. And even without the outbreak, you should still make sure your resistance is in check so you can combat various common illnesses. It’s no fun being sick in bed all day after all. 

While you’re stuck in quarantine, here are some things you can do to boost your immune system for a healthier, fitter life.


Theories suggest that exercise can help get rid of bacteria by reducing stress hormones and changing the antibodies in our system. While there’s definitely no going to the gym anytime soon (unless you wear masks and gloves, but the lockdown probably won’t allow that either), you can do some exercises in the comfort of your room. Do some pushups, squats, and more while you’re at home. It can keep you active and also reduce your boredom during this quarantine.

Have a balanced diet

Eating a balanced diet can do wonders to your immune system. This is because you get all of the needed nutrients in your body, no more, no less. Consuming too much or too little of a specific mineral and vitamin can have minor to major effects on your health in the long run, so make sure you’re eating enough. Cut back on the excess and increase on the ones you’re lacking.

Get enough sleep

Sleep has a lot of benefits, from improvements in your mood, your energy, and your performance in your duties. It’s also a must for your immune system because it helps produce more cytokines in your body, proteins that target infection and inflammation. Aside from that, constantly lacking the necessary hours of sleep opens your body up for a host of issues such as mood swings, low energy, and cardiovascular diseases. So get those Z’s when you can!

Take vitamins

Aside from consuming vitamins through food, you can also go for supplements. Those with Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, and Vitamin E can be beneficial. But, with every medicine, you must also check if it is approved by the FDA before you take them. Try calling your doctor to check if a particular supplement is safe for you to take, and do your research as well.

Boosting the immune system doesn’t just rely on a single method. It depends on a combination of all these to ensure you get the best health possible. Always be conscious of what’s going on in your body and what you can do to improve it. That way, you won’t end up getting sick frequently and you can do your daily tasks without any inconvenience.
