Your Guide to Power Dressing in 2019

It is known that we women have gone through many obstacles in order to assert our importance, power, and worth in this society. From advocating for our suffrage rights, instilling the notion that we are not only limited to house work, and more, we can say that women are on the right track in promoting equity when it comes to gender and opportunities.

We women are powerful beings. Back then, thanks to the genius design of Coco Chanel, our power was expressed through our clothing. She incorporated details of men’s suit to her feminine designs, thus, power dressing for women was born.

Today, power dressing has evolved for the better. It is definitely not defined by just one look anymore. According to famous designer Giorgio Armani, ”Women have edged out their standing in the world. They don’t have to wear a suit jacket to prove their authority.” Power dressing has been revolutionized to what makes you feel confident, competent, and influential in the office.

Here are ways, in which, women can dress confidently for work.

Feel confident

Confidence is key to looking great in anything. Whether it’s a dress or a pantsuit, how you feel about yourself will translate to how you look. It wouldn’t matter if what you’re wearing is expensive or not. As they say, “Don’t wear a brand. Be a brand.”

Choose comfort

Are you presenting or pitching ideas to a client? The last thing you would want to worry about is your outfit. So, while you’re at it, make sure that you feel at ease with what you’re wearing, especially your shoes. You wouldn’t want to end up with blisters at the end of the day. Looking good doesn’t have to hurt.

Make it your own

While you’re at it, personalize your outfit to make it speak for the confident woman that you are. Though you have as much freedom to wear prints and colors, looking professional and at your best is the way you want to go.

While some may say it’s cliche, nothing rings more true than the saying, “The most beautiful thing a woman can wear is confidence.”
